Tech for Impact – Opportunities for students

Start your tech career somewhere your work matters

Connect with mission-led organisations looking for emerging talent in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Through this new initiative from Cogs AI and Allia Impact, university students and recent graduates can discover paid opportunities where they can build practical experience, develop their skills and contribute to work with a clear social purpose.

Build experience with purpose

Starting a career in technology can be difficult when employers expect experience before you have had the opportunity to gain it.

This initiative connects students and graduates with charities, social enterprises and other mission-led organisations that need technology skills to improve how they work and support the communities they serve.

Opportunities will focus on areas including artificial intelligence, digital transformation and cybersecurity. These may include paid project placements, fixed-term positions and permanent roles.

Rather than relying solely on CVs and keywords, the Cogs AI platform will consider your skills, cognitive strengths, preferred ways of working and what you want from your career. This will help identify opportunities where you are more likely to thrive.

What you could gain

  • Practical experience: Apply your technical knowledge to real organisational challenges.
  • Paid opportunities: Access paid placements and employment opportunities with mission-led organisations.
  • A stronger portfolio: Build evidence of your skills through meaningful, hands-on work.
  • Purpose-led work: Use technology to contribute to positive social and economic impact.
  • Better matched opportunities: Explore roles based on your strengths, working preferences and goals, as well as your technical skills.
  • Ongoing support: Receive guidance through the matching, onboarding and early employment process.
